JDF talent to use Hi-Tech Racing Batteries lightweight lithium power.

Coventry based hi-tech battery manufacturer Racing Batteries is to provide JDF Racing with technical support for the remainder of 2011 and 2012.

Based on the latest technology of Lithium based batteries Racing Batteries produce powerful lightweight batteries for track and road use.

Colm Watling of Racing Batteries "Our products aim at improving the performance of the race machine by weight reduction. Our lithium based battery is around one third of the weight of a lead-acid battery. On some of the large capacity sports bikes the weight of the battery is fairly significant with the weight usually in the wrong place. As part of an overall weight reduction exercise, our batteries can shed a couple of Kilo’s off the bike so the engine has to drag around less weight. The increase in track performance is measurable."

JDF Racing's rider development programme is now in its fifth year its focus being to move talented young riders on quickly to the next level. John Davies of JDF Racing "Many young riders get bogged down in their progress, we can usually achieve in 12 months what the young riders and parents take two or even three years to achieve. Our record of bringing young riders on over the past five years speaks for itself. However, the sport has changed in recent years. The route through used to be via the 125 class but over the last year or so we have been looking at other classes for our young riders. The Honda Moto 3 machinery would be the obvious choice and we will monitor the development of this series with a view to competing in Moto 3 in the future."
